Snook Brothers Welcome Post!

Well I am finally going to jump off the ledge and actually begin to make blog posts.  I have never fancied myself as a prolific writer or a particularly public person (just check the infrequent Facebook posts on my page). However, it seems like the right time to begin, so here goes.

This blog is intended to be an enjoyable read for those who are interested in fishing and the other stuff that sometimes goes on when a couple of guys are outdoors for hours at a time chasing fish. I hope to be able to capture some inspiration from a post I used to read from a fly fisherman that fished the Hiwassee River in east Tennessee.  He would regularly report on his fishing trip, but would do so in a way that was enjoyable to read, and also would discuss what flowers were blooming, when the persimmon fruit trees were bearing fruit, animals which crossed his path, and other general musings.

Jason will certainly add his input, color, and approval to most of the content, but I will be the chief writer.  He will also be the subject of more than his fair share of pictures with fish as he is generally the one catching the biggest ones. Well, he has been on this island fishing for many more years that I have, so I will use that as my excuse as to that fact.  That is not to say I have not caught my fair share of big fish in my life, so I am no slacker either, but I digress…

It has been an amazing blessing to have discovered a kindred spirit on the island that I have been able to share so much time with since we moved here at the end of July. Right from the start there seemed to be a special bond between us that has resulted in a close friendship (even though he did stand me up the first time I invited him to fish with me – a story for another day).  Fishing is better done with someone else around to share the fun.  My many years of fly fishing the rivers of Tennessee alone were rewarding, refreshing, but often lonely, and even sometimes dangerous by myself.

I guess I will have to give consideration to some catchy tag line for ending my blog posts like “Tight lines” or “See you on the water” – the things the real bloggers say.  Until then, I will simply end with the battle cry of our blog.

Snook Brothers Unite!
